TF2 team starts the year 2009 with charged batteries (and mediguns)

It’s been a while since I wrote anything here and the front page has recently been dominated by CS:S news so I thought it’s time to change that. Our TF2 pro squad has had a pretty long break in December since our guys were busy with real lives and I think we all needed a small break to renew our motivation. Now we are back in action and the first results from the new year are looking really promising.

A week ago, we kicked off the games again by participating the ETF2L TFTrue cup.  It was only a small one-night cup to test the new version of the TF2 promod, but the results we got right after our long break were surprisingly good.  We made our way all the way to the final by beating plan-B, Druidz and 4Kings. Unfortunately the reigning ETF2L champions Übersexuals proved to be too tough on gravelpit that day and we lost both rounds on the final to them.

ETF2L TFTrue cup is now in the past but the main league season 4 has just begun.  Crack Clan is playing in the premier division again where all the best teams in Europe are present. Our first game there will be against Druidz on Monday, 19th. Season 3 ended in a bit of a disappointment when we finished only 4th after Übersexuals, TCM and 4Kings. This time we will try our best not to repeat our mistakes, especially since ETF2L has finally managed to get some sponsors and the top 3 teams in division 1 will get some hardware prizes from SteelSeries. The ETF2L Season 4 division 1 teams are:

4Kings

Crack! Clan

Die Doppelnullen

Druidz

Imperial

KomaCrew

redLine

Team CoolerMaster

Ãœbersexuals

Weapons of the rebellion

The Enemy Down TF2 League has also just begun an season 4 offers £400 for the premier division champions. We finished our first match in this league just yesterday. A 1-1 tie against 4Kings was a pretty good start, especially since one of the maps played was their all-time favourite, granary. Our next match in the EDTF2L is yet again against Druidz on this Thursday at 21:15 CET. The EDTF2L premier division teams:

4Kings

Crack! Clan

Druidz

Imperial

KomaCrew

Nervous Gamers

Team CoolerMaster

Ãœbersexuals

The ESL Major Series season 3 has reached the playoff stage and we are now facing redLine in the first round of playoffs. We were able to win our group over Pandemic and this gave us a place in an easier bracket. Now we don’t have to face 4K, Ãœbersexuals, TCM or Pandemic before the upper bracket final. If we win our match against redLine on Sunday, our next opponent will be either Druidz or 00. The EMS season 3 has a €750 prize pool for the TF2 tournament. The teams which qualified to the playoffs are:

4Kings

Crack! Clan

Die Doppelnullen

Druidz

Pandemic

redLine

Team CoolerMaster

Ãœbersexuals

As you can see, pretty much the same teams are playing in each of these top level competitions but there is still quite a clear difference between the best teams and the other challengers in ETF2L for example. In my opinion 4Kings, Ãœbersexuals and cc are well ahead of others. TCM used to be one of our toughest challengers but they’ve had many line-up changes recently so their current form is not what it used to be at their best. TCM might be able to overcome these problems but for now they definitely have some work to do. Another team which might soon catch up could be Druidz with their crazy pace of 5 matches each night but they are not quite there yet.

All in all, I believe that the spring competitions will be extremely tight and we will see some very interesting matches this year. Hopefully 2009 will also bring us some worthwhile TF2 LANs, our team is eager to prove themselves after the PCGamer defeat.
