I see it as new memories being created. Even if it is rated a 1 out of 10 I am buying it. Now where did I put that bubblegum.

I thought the whole point was that you were here to kick ass & chew gum, and you were all out of gum...

If I can't find my gum then I guess I am out. Time to kick some ass.

Hate to be the first one, but: demo played, pre-order canceled! ..if the whole thing turns out to be epic I'll be waiting and buying it at discount prices -- how awesome is it to play a demo first *so glad* the demo exists!!

even if the final product is sub-par I'm going to have to get it simply because of what it reminds me of my childhood (playing dn3d on an old 28k modem with my mates back when I was 15). It WILL be bought, and awesome or not I WILL enjoy the crap out of it!!!

I wish you all the best of luck and most of enjoyment but I won't be getting on this particular hypetrain! I've seen enough mediocre, linear, poorly textured games to last me a lifetime.. I think I might just replay the original instead so as to bring back those memories of a younger, more innocent era :)

I decided that getting hyped up for games always leads to disappointment. The last one I was really excited for was FFoW, and we all know how that one ended up... :)

Just pre-ordered duke on steam, regardless of whether or not it's worth it, it's going to have to be played...

Expect a review of sorts some time before the weekend.

It's crap.

Also: let the trashing begin -- here's a particularly damning review from Ars Technica (I love the "FPS map design" graphic in there; it made me miss "Descent" of all things, lol) but you'll find plenty more without breaking a sweat (look at metacritic for a taste of how mediocre/awful it is). Hell, even the way-too-positive IGN barely passed the game. It's a stinker, through-and-through and I'm glad that I'm going to be keeping my memories of Duke mostly intact (sadly, the demo tainted me a bit) -- I tried to tell you guys -- just like a lot of movie sequels it's just there to grab your impulse dollar..

They had to ship *something* or else Take Two would be out of a horrendous amount of money, lol. Hope this doesn't taint Gearbox's image, seeing as how they came through in the eleventh hour to get this shipped.

well dox, you did the right thing.

This pretty much sums it all up and it's funny because it's true... all of it. It's also sad.

Thank you loose morals for saving me some money on this title :P

I think the most telling was how quiet this thread got on release day while some of you silently racked up your DNF "achievements" -- but I daresay the demo was revealing enough to have me immediately cancel my preorder. On the bright side: I think there's some respect due for putting the demo out, unfortunately it'll probably strengthen developers/publishers resolve to outright kill the practice, after all: look what it did to DNF sales!! I still want to play the game, even if i know it is terrible. It's Duke Nukem. It would be a travesty to me to NOT play it. One of the first FPS games i played as a kid and one that i played obsessively for a while. Eventually i guess i'll pick it up out of a bargain bin in some supermarket in a few months time.
