Looking good keK, need some crack clan logo ;)

Latest post from the APB blog sounds great.
The Development Road Map
In our effort to "hyper-communicate" about what we are working on, today we have released the Development Road Map (also reachable as a tab on top of this blog page).

At the moment it only has the high level public items we are working on for the next 30 days (and a lot of low level details which are not yet published). However, later this week we are going to expand include all the cool long-term features that we are working on, such as Clan Warfare, Asylum, Racing etc. which really will open the game up to a whole new set of experiences.

Instead of answering the same questions (and quite frankly - zany conspiracy theories) over and over again on forums and on the blogs, we figured we'd rather publish all the ongoing work in one place, so if you have any concerns or constructive suggestions, hopefully the most common issues (lag, queues etc.) are addressed as ToDo items in the Road Map; for example the upcoming Firewall rebuild happening this week in the EU, the new ISP peer and IP provider we are adding next week to improve latency for EU players, the launch of the CBAK (Closed Beta Appreciation Kit), the launch of car kits, the new matchmaking and the new district recommendation items.

So - while the current list is just a taste of what we are hoping to share, at minimum our aspiration is to NOT promise things "soon" Wow-style, nor on "Valve-time" but instead the plan is simply to share things that we feel comfortable promising within some reasonable time frame. Will we ever miss a date? You'becha. And occasionally we will beat a date or two by getting there a tad early. But the general development direction should certainly be very clear from the roadmap itself

If you having problems running the game try these tweaks.

Code: Select all

Editing the settings
1. Go to your APB programs file folder. For me, it''s in C:\\Program Files\\Realtime Worlds\\APB North America (Mine is in steamapps>commonfiles) Nasty
2. Click on the APBGame folder, then on the Config folder
3. Now click on the APBCompat.ini file and open it with notepad. If it''s read-only, right click on properties and uncheck the box
4. Go to file, save-as and save this file as a backup on your desktop
5. Ctrl-F and search for "BucketX" where X is the graphics slider that you use in-game. 1 being minimal, 2 being low, and so on. I''d imagine that most of you already running on minimal settings though. If you''re still running on high, I''d suggest turning down your graphics slider in game and seeing if that increases your fps. In other words search for bucket.. set stuff to false and make sure options are set to minimal in game (nasty)
6. Set the following values:

DynamicShadows=False
BlobShadows=False
LightEnvironmentShadows=False
MotionBlur=False
DepthOfField=False
AmbientOcclusion=False
Bloom=False
QualityBloom=False
Distortion=False
DropParticleDistortion=True
MaxDynamicShadows=0
bEnableVSMShadows=False
bEnableBranchingPCFShadows=False
bAllowBetterModulatedShadows=False
bEnableForegroundShadowsOnWorld=False

Code: Select all

1. Change DX 9 to 10 (Improves your FPS)

First of all to enable Directx10 (ApB runs in directx9 by default):
File to edit: APBMachineoptions.ini (just add below the Default settings in Systemsettings row)
AllowD3D9=False
AllowD3D8=False
AllowD3D7=False
AllowD3D10=True
AllowD3D11=False
- don't forget to set the file to read only after saving!

2. Frame Limit Tweaks

Next there are some first commands to remove some checks of Framelimits that are slowing down the machine.
File to edit: APBMachineoptions.ini
bSmoothFrameRate=False
MinSmoothedFrameRate=22
MaxSmoothedFrameRate=120
OneFrameThreadLag=False
- don't forget to set the file to read only after saving!

3. Switch DXT compression
Another recommended change is to turn off the DXR compression G1 added recently. Many People out the have big problems with green and purple pixels on their characters clothings. Furthermore, textures become more blurry... just to save a few bytes in the installation (what I don't believe at all...). So turning off the compression not only helps everyone who has problems with but will increase the overall quality of player clothing and car designs.

File to edit: APBCompat.ini
-At the end of that file there are 3 sections called AppHWConstraintsBucket1 , AppHWConstraintsBucket2 and AppHWConstraintsBucket3.
-In there you will find the command line "bCompressTextures"
-Set all 3 command lines (same command in all 3 sections) from "true" to "false"
- don't forget to set the file to read only after saving!

I think there's enough hardware thrown @ it (quad core > 3Ghz, 8GB RAM, GTX460 SLI etc) -- but no matter what optimizations I attempt to enact ithere's a massive framedrop; it's a consistent phenomenon though the time between these framedrops varies (seems random, can be every 0.5-2.5 seconds). It's quite odd, I haven't seen lag like it before.. I have gone through and tried a lot of suggestions from forums to google search results, I have disabled SLI, I've tried to make sure that there's nothing conflicting running in the background, etc.. Just fails.. it makes doing something like an accurate 360 impossible, heck, it often makes an accurate 180 impossible..
