well, you can draw parallels to the vietnam war in same regard, if you've ever read anything that was not cold war propoganda, you'l learn that Ho Chi Mihn actually expected the amercians to support his revolutinoary war, however under the the spectre of communism he quickly became the united states enemy because he was a small fish compared to France, and later as a cohort the other asian communists. The american's actually outright betrayed the guy, and then 15 years later show up and fight him.
