Nice thread, might post my own ideas here.. I'm about to buy a new one, not sure whether to go with Plantronics .Audio 370 og 770 :S.. Anyone tried the latter? or both?

Oh yeah, I've had a 5H, which I broke.. It was ok, decent sound but not too comfy, think the v2 is a lot better though.

whilst i like sennheiser headphones - from a sound quality point of view they really can't be beaten - i won't buy another pair after my pc-160's mic broke in spectacular style during a cc// bf 2142 match, deafening the team with a constant static broadcast. not fun. they were pretty new, had really been looked after well, and just weren't worth the money (they were also a little uncomfortable too, as the cups don't completely cover your ears, just rest on them).

now i switch between Steelpad 4h's which are really comfy, good quality and really good value, and a Steelpad Syberia Neckband set, which i bought mainly for xbox live but i occasionally use on my PC. these are much less comfy as they keep slowly falling down, but look sexier ;)

the 4h's are a bit cheaply built though, and mine have broken a little so one of the cups keeps falling off the headband bit... but i do treat my gear quite roughly and they're cheap enough to replace when they do eventually die *shrugs*

OMG.

What are the chances of you being from Southampton aswell?????? Hi from Shirley :)

I too had a bad experience with a set of Sennheiser's. Mic broke after about 8 months rendering the headphones useless, believe it or not.

They were 80 smackers. I am now happy with my 3 quid jobby from the notorious rip off parlour know as PC World...

maybe we should just have a stickied headphone /peripheral megathread seeing as how often these threads crop up

edit: I count three "tell me what headphones to buy" threads on page 1 of Computing alone

edit2: fuck it, I'll make one in a bit

Thing I don't like about them is that they're completely closed (what I've read, anyway).. Meaning nobody would be able to talk to you (at a LAN for instance)..

What I think you might be missing is - if/when you get to finals you are usually on a stage surrounded by people and blaring music - welcome to pro life.

Well that's the thing - I don't really expect to be at that final stage :) And IF I do, I'd have a sponsored Sennheiser PC350, eh? iWin, and you can't deny it!
