It's taken you long enough! Don't worry, it took me a while before TF2 was no the greatest thing ever too! :D
tf2 never could surpass tfc for me, so .. Despite me being a raging faggot at times to the people I play with, I probably would've quit long ago if they weren't there.

I think Brink is gonna be a mix between Ijji's GunZ, The Specialist(HL1 Mod), TF2 and Call of Duty 4 in one.

But right now, a lot of leagues are pushing it to be competitive as soon as it launches(which is exactly what happened with Black Ops and made the game fail).

So hopefully we don't see a huge hype then flop like BlackOps because BlackOps was suppose to be the 'savior for a team competitive game' for FPS' in North America unless you wanted to go to the HL/2 games.

Don't plan on getting it until a few months later to see how it is. Not gonna make the same mistake with BlackOps, ^^ got it, played zombies with friends like 5 times, played a couple of games, haven't touched it since.

Depending on how it is, might have to make a return to team competitive gaming ^^ but I won't hold my breath with the rate of SC2 is going at.

In my opinion, Brink is just like an improved version of Wolfenstein Enemy Territory. More polished gameplay and customization.
I WANT THIS GAME.

TFC was awesome indeed :)

Well, I'm going to give Brink a shot and see what's up, with our BC2 campaign behind us, no real Homefront traction and my hunger for BF3 a long ways off from been satiated I'm a sucker for team-based FPS offerings.. [-o<

Black Ops was doomed by its design which doesn't encourage competitive play because any noob can get off a stray shot and kill a pro. A random grenade is almost unavoidable. There is too much randomness in the call of duty formula for the game to be successful competitively.

Brink is more intelligently designed, supposedly there are no one shot kill headshots (though I am not sure about that with snipers in the game) and grenades won't kill in one shot either. The game just seems more naturally structured for competitive play, also the maps are supposedly made different for 5v5s and larger games. I also like the relatively large health pools I've seen from this game, nothing kills competitive play more than being dead before you can respond to an opponent.

Starcraft 2 was pushed out of the gate to be a big esport with large money tournaments happening when the game was still in beta. I don't see how pushing a game to be an esport can really doom it to be unsuccessful, it is the game itself that determines whether or not it will see competitive play.

That said I am not really looking for competitive play in brink, I just want to run around and shoot people whenever protoss is getting me down.

I was going to wait and see on this game but direct2drive is having a sale and you can preorder the game for 37.50$ with the promo code sizzle so I am biting the bullet on this game.

Brink’s set to launch in less than a day in the US, and Brink TV are running a couple of live online launch events to celebrate. The events will invite some of the best Quake and Enemy Territory: Quake Wars players to deliver feedback on Brink’s multiplayer mode, and shoutcasters will be commentating on a series of King of the Hill matches that will be open to anyone who wants to join. The whole thing will be broadcast live on the web.

You’ll find all the details on the day one and day two Brink events over on the Brink TV site. As well as a live podcast from Brink TV and leading Brink community members, there will be contributions from leading members of the Quake and Enemy Territory pro circuits, who will be delivering feedback on Brink’s potential to become a competitive esport.

Brink TV will also be giving away copies of the game over the course of the two events, and the broadcast King of the Hill matches should give us a good look at how the game really works in a live multiplayer environment. You’ll find plenty more footage of the game in action on the official Brink site.
