Pc issues please halp

Post by DeTh » Wed Jun 22, 2011 1:28 am

ok so as some of you may know i am the most unlucky person when it comes to pc's.

so recently i had a motherboard fry on me so i switched to a new asus x58 sabertooth motherboard for my quad core i7. for some reason it would only post sometimes and other times it would just start up with the fans and there would be red lights on the cpu led and the ram led along with no beeps from the speakers(i replaced it with the same results). so i thought it may be my cpu and i purchased a new one and the same thing is happening where it will only boot some of the time. now i know how to build pc's and whatnot and i know all my parts should work together, i am just blown away at how this thing can consistently not work and be a money drain for me.
The thing starts up with the fans and the hard drive and all that jazz like its getting power but it just sits there with its red lights. no bios no post no nothing.
so my question to you is this what do you think the issue may be and how can i solve it.
i think it may be my power supply that is going or something which may explain why the pc only will post some of the time.
another person suggested that it could be ram but with no beeps from the speaker that doesnt make a whole lot of sense.

:-({|=

also it would start after i turn it on and off a number of times as if i had a car with a crappy battery or something.

and i should probably also note that my cpu has been unusually hot on this new motherboard with the new and the old cpu running at about 40 degrees C. when on the old motherboard with my zalman heatsink which i have now it ran at 22 Degrees C. even the second generation cpu runs just as hot

3 things needed to post
CPU
RAM
VIDEO CARD
(motherboard obviously)

You have replaced your motherboard and cpu, it really sounds like a memory issue. How many sticks of memory do you have? If you have more than one try taking one at a time out of the motherboard and switch them out until it boots. Once it does boot you know the memory you removed is the problem. Also try resetting your video card.
