First, make an image for a BF cd on your computer. It speeds up your loading time. Also reducing the texture percentage inside video options uses less video memory and loads levels faster. Setting AA and AS to the lowest also speeds up gfx.

If you have a soundblaster card, be carefull of what driver set you use ! This has been the source of many problems in the BF community. As always, turn off any running application prior to gaming. Close the anti-viruses, pop up killers, other stupid apps... Don't use memory boosting softwares, they are crap. Set your virtual memory to a fixed size according to your specs (google this and find what you need). Use an anti-virus program that is easy on the system, unlike Norton AV. Panda works great and uses almost no cpu cycles. Overclock you stuff. Downclock it if you eperience strange slowdowns/textures/lockups.

Intro movies

Everyone most likely knows this one already, but for the BF series, delete those annoying intro movies and save yourself around 200mb of RAM. Just browse to C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\Battlefield 2142\mods\bf2142\Movies and rename the files .bak instead of .bik. Next time you start BF, you'll skip straight to the login screen.

Auto login

In conjunction with the above, you can get BF to auto-login for you. Right-click your BF icon, go to Properties, and in the target, add this to the end of the string:

+eaAccountName [your Accountname] +eaAccountPassword [your Password] +soldierName [your soldiername]

So for e.g.:

"C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\Battlefield 2142\BF2142.exe" +menu 1 +fullscreen 1 +szx 1280 +szy 1024 +eaAccountName AnarkyXtra +eaAccountPassword yourpassword +soldierName AnarkyXtra

Useful if you CTD and need to get back into the game asap...or if you're a lazy bugger like me ;)

Again...I imagine everyone's done this, but just in case...

Localization files

Download an updated localization file to display more meaningful information in BF (career points per award, etc).

Here's a good one for 2142.

Glad to be of help! Plus you may notice a slight performance increase, since you'll have saved yourself some RAM.
